S. 4–21
Emotionen besitzen dabei
eine epistemische Funktion: Sie erschließen Werte, strukturieren Wahrnehmung
und ermöglichen praktische Entscheidungen in kontingenten Handlungssituationen.
The text examines Aristotle’s attempt to mediate between emotion and rationality.
In the Rhetoric, emotions are not treated as irrational disturbances but
as cognitive and motivational elements of human judgment. Aristotle shows
that processes of public persuasion depend on the interplay of logos, ethos,
and pathos. Emotions thus fulfill an epistemic function: they disclose values,
structure perception, and enable practical decision-making in contingent situations.
